In addition to her public safety career, Summer is actively pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Digital Forensics at American Military University. She is also preparing for her CompTIA Security+ certification as part of her transition into the cybersecurity field. By blending her background in law enforcement with a growing technical skill set, she is committed to identifying, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats in today’s dynamic digital landscape.

I attribute my success to perseverance. No matter the obstacles or setbacks, I stay committed to my goals and keep pushing forward.

The best career advice I’ve received is to show up every day to be the best that I can. I focus on my own growth and performance, rather than comparing myself to others or worrying about negativity around me.

The advice I would give to young women entering the industry is to show proof that you are capable of handling hard things and able to perform well. Let your actions demonstrate your skills and reliability.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in this industry is its nuance—you can specialize in almost anything, which can make it both exciting and overwhelming.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Personally and professionally, I value integrity and discipline. Staying true to my principles and maintaining consistency in my work has guided my decisions and success.
