Her Story
About Sunny
I've spent 17 years as a broker in the derivatives market, with my focus primarily on the commodity side, specifically metals. For the past seven and a half years, I've been with my current firm as a sales trader, where my main focus has been client dealing, market analysis and execution, and also trading on behalf of the company for the internal book. My typical day starts with analyzing what happened overnight in the London Metal Exchange, since by the time I get in at Eastern Time, the market is already half past. I write market commentary and send it to clients, then execute trades during the second ring time throughout the day. I also look for new opportunities and new clients, organize company events, and travel for work, which requires detailed preparation including analyzing client financials for prospects. What I'm most proud of professionally is bringing big industrial names onto the table and opening new accounts with major players in the industry. The metals sector has a lot of spotlight these days, and it's an interesting time to be in this space, though it's very competitive. There aren't that many women in this industry yet, but I'm starting to see changes and recognition, which makes it a good time for women to get involved.
