Tamara’s clinical expertise spans primary and acute care, and she has held key roles in nursing education, program coordination, and academic governance. As the Owner–Operator of Genesis Total Health and Wellness Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, Tamara provides comprehensive, patient-centered care that integrates prevention, chronic disease management, and wellness strategies. She has also served as an advanced practice nurse at multiple healthcare organizations and as an adjunct clinical professor, supervising and mentoring nurse practitioner students in diverse clinical settings. What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never give up. Things won’t always go as planned, and mistakes are inevitable, but every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Staying persistent is key to long-term success.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: if your motivation is just the paycheck, this may not be the right path. You need a genuine passion for helping and connecting with people, because true fulfillment comes from caring about those you serve.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is staffing, as finding and retaining skilled professionals can be difficult. On the other hand, there are significant opportunities—pursuing a doctorate degree, for example, not only allows me to teach but also opens doors to a wide range of professional and leadership roles.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are my faith and my family. As a pastor, my spiritual beliefs guide my actions and decisions, and I strive to live and work in a way that reflects those principles while supporting and uplifting others.
