What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my desire to be the best version of myself and as a leader.
I have had many leaders, coaches and mentors in my journey and I have learned something from each and everyone of them.
I have taken many great features and learned how to implement them into my own style of leading, as well as learning what kind of leader I didn't want to be as well.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is to Document Everything, from the good, the bad and the ugly.
Documentation shows that you are engaged with your team, assisting them to become the best version of themselves as well as a model employee, but it also assists when it comes to reviews. With all the documentation, you have solid evidence to support each rating you are awarding that associate.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women who are entering the leadership role in any industry is to not be afraid to try, and fail and try try again. Through trial and error, mistakes made along the way will assist them to keep growing.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge we face would be product innovation. New companies and brands are being created daily and they all want and need a spot on the shelves to get to the consumers. The challenge with this come from staying on top of what is new and trending through social media as well as how we can possibly introduce their product onto the shelves, while not severely cutting into existing and well known bigger selling brands.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The greatest value is knowing the value of a balanced work life balance. Working in a 24/7/365 industry/business, it can be hard to juggle between work and life. One aspect can easily take precedence over the other.
The other value I carry is to hold myself accountable. I am human and can make or will make mistakes. With accountability and owning up to those mistakes, learning from those mistakes and actively changing the behavior or thought process that lead to the mistake is more important so that future mistakes are less or minimal.
