Tamma Johnson, CBLC, is a Certified Biblical Life Coach dedicated to helping individuals break old habits, embrace change, and achieve personal and spiritual growth. She began her professional journey with the Internal Revenue Service, where she was hired 26 years ago. Interestingly, her path to the IRS was almost prophetic—her mother reminded her that, as a high school student, she had mentioned wanting to work for the IRS after enjoying tax preparation in a math class. Although she had not actively pursued it, her career fell into her lap, providing not only deep technical experience but also an introduction to coaching and transferable skills that continue to inform her work today.

Following her tenure at the IRS, Tamma became the owner of Holmes-Isabell Tax Service for 11 years, where she specialized in tax consulting, Offers in Compromise, lien and levy resolution, and bankruptcy representation. Her experience guiding clients through complex financial challenges further strengthened her ability to mentor and coach others. Today, Tamma has transitioned into biblical life coaching, offering remote sessions to clients, primarily women, who are seeking meaningful change in their lives. She balances this new profession with her role as a caregiver for her father, approaching each coaching session with compassion, focus, and faith-centered guidance.

Outside of her professional work, Tamma enjoys hiking, painting, and reading, finding these activities to be a source of inspiration and renewal. She is deeply committed to community service, supporting initiatives in education, civil rights, health, and social action. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Tyler Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and co-chaired the Women In Tyler Planning Committee. Looking ahead, Tamma envisions immersing herself fully in coaching over the next five years, expanding her reach through speaking engagements and full-time client work, helping individuals and communities thrive with integrity, resilience, and purpose.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith in God and never giving up. My mother taught me pretty early that our accomplishments don't define us, but when we work hard, we make progress. She also taught me that we're not tied to a supposed time, that we work hard, and eventually we get to where we're going. Throughout my career, I've focused on developing and maintaining a reputation for integrity and honoring and doing what I say I'm going to do.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was to work in an area that I really enjoy the work in. I've certainly tried various things, and I learned the importance of enjoying what I do. That really sums it up for me.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women to learn how to deal with sexism in a way that doesn't damage your career if possible, but to make sure they take a stand and protect themselves. And be better than anyone else in terms of the work skills.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think women still face sexism and discrimination based on their sex. That's one of the biggest challenges facing young women today, both in coaching and in other fields like when I was working in government.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me both professionally and personally are honesty, authenticity, and commitment. Those three would probably be the ones that matter the most to me.
