Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came early in my career from a seasoned mentor who took me under her wing. She told me to always be kind to everyone because you never know who you might work for—or who might work for you—one day. She emphasized that your reputation and character are everything, and that treating people with respect and integrity can have a lasting impact on your career. That lesson has stayed with me ever since.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering my industry is to be flexible. We often come in with a clear plan for how we think our careers or lives will unfold, only to discover within the first year that things rarely go exactly as expected. I’m not suggesting you go without goals, but I do encourage embracing flexibility, because some of the most rewarding opportunities and experiences come from the unexpected.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe the current political environment is having a significant impact on the job market. One of the biggest challenges is that organizations are often trying to do more with less, which can make it harder for people to find opportunities. At the same time, this creates an opportunity for us to be creative in carving out our own paths—especially when we want to pursue work that we’re truly passionate about.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The value that is most important to me in both my work and personal life is integrity. Character and integrity guide how I interact with others, because I believe that trust is the foundation of any relationship—whether professional or personal. People should be able to rely on you, trust what you say, and have confidence in what you do. Integrity has always been my guiding principle.
