Her Story

About Tara

I started my career in 2012 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, working with 20 different dermatologists as both a surgical tech and a medical assistant. During my time at Virginia Mason, I fell in love with dermatology - everything about it was so fascinating to me, and I just wanted to learn more and more. I continued my education, going to conferences, not just aesthetics conferences, but medical conferences in dermatology as well. I left Virginia Mason with one of the dermatologists and started a private practice in Kirkland, and went back to school in the evening to get my master aesthetic license. Once I finished that, I started the aesthetic side in that Kirkland office and was there for about 5 years. I got married and moved to Idaho during COVID, where I started a trucking company because that was the most lucrative thing I could think of that wasn't going to come to a halt. I came back in 2022 to Washington and went right back into aesthetics, launching other businesses' aesthetic sides. I launched an aesthetic business for Dermatology Arts in Bellevue, Washington, and while I was there, I rolled out a SkinCeuticals flagship for L'Oreal. Over the past couple of years, I've launched multiple med spas, dermatology clinics, worked in plastic surgery for a couple of years, in bariatric surgery. I've always stayed on top of technologies, not only in the aesthetic part of dermatology, but also in the medical part, and I've merged the two. I've always been really focused on regenerative medicine throughout my master aesthetician career. Most recently, over the past year, I have developed a concept for a device that basically heals DNA at a regular level and can change it between A form, Z form, and it has a feedback loop.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tara

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You're never done learning. The minute that you think you know everything about the industry or your job, that's where you're going to fail, because it's constantly evolving. I've seen technologies over the past 10 years come and go. You've got to go sit at a different table. I've always stayed on top of technologies, not only in the aesthetic part of dermatology, but also in the medical part, and I've merged the two.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Working in the industry is like my second home. I give just as much dedication to my home as I do to my profession, so they're both very important to me. For me, truly being the best I can be at my craft is what matters. I've always been really focused on staying on top of technologies and continuing my education. There's just something in me that fell in love with dermatology and wanted to know the reason behind everything - what are the pathways that get triggered for psoriasis, what are the biologics that help it, what pathways do those affect. I'm always staying up on what is the latest technology that's either on the market, new to the market, or what's coming down the road.
