Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tarah

01What do you attribute your success to?

A lot of heads-down hard work, always showing up and being my best every day that I can.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be like a duck and let the small things roll off your back. Don't sweat the small stuff.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay focused on where you want to go and what you want to be. There's a lot of bumps and ups and downs in this industry, and if you can really focus on what you want, you will make it there. Find another female in what you're doing to mentor you, especially in male-dominated fields.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Project financing has been a challenge for a few years, and getting city compliance is always a challenge.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Live by the Cowboy Code of Conduct, being tough but fair. There's a time and a place, but you do have to put the heavy down but always make sure you're being fair about it.
