Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my mother, who was the first African-American woman to have a private label line at Walmart. She guided me in navigating challenges as a competitive African-American woman, teaching me to embrace my unique journey and create my own opportunities rather than wait for doors to be opened for me.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women considering entrepreneurship to first reflect on their motivations—whether it’s financial goals, passion, or a desire to make a difference. It’s also important to understand your emotional connection to the business and consider your personal responsibilities and stamina before diving in.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in work and life are planning, emotional intelligence, and adaptability—I’ve learned from every role, from broadcast production to running a Pilates studio, that every experience is a learning opportunity to be shared. I also prioritize integrating my passions, like golf, dance, and art, into my life rather than striving for a strict work-life balance.
