She purchased her local accounting firm two years ago and has since modernized its services, expanded the team, and shifted the focus from seasonal tax preparation to year‑round strategic advisory relationships.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistency, building strong and lasting client relationships, and the mentorship I’ve received from other firm owners. I am also willing to evolve and adapt my business model as the industry changes. Networking, learning from peers, and remaining people-focused rather than solely numbers-driven have been essential to my growth and continued success.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received has come from the woman who previously owned the firm I purchased, as well as from other accounting firm owners and professional peers. Their guidance has been invaluable in helping me navigate the challenges of leadership, business growth, and ownership.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to focus on people and relationships, seek out mentors early, and build strong professional networks. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and embrace leadership opportunities—even when they feel uncomfortable—as they are essential for growth and development.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now include transitioning from being a technical expert to a people-focused leader, learning to delegate effectively, providing constructive feedback, and managing rapid business growth. At the same time, there are significant opportunities, such as expanding advisory services, meeting the growing demand for strategic financial guidance among small businesses, and building scalable, women-led firms.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, accountability, maintaining a healthy family balance, mentorship, relationship-building, and striving for professional excellence.
In my personal life, I am passionate about spending time with my children, reading, traveling, exploring national parks, hiking, and enjoying outdoor activities.
