Tawni Boman-Meek

Tawni Boman-Meek is a highly experienced education professional, retired educator, and adjunct professor with more than two decades of experience spanning higher education, career and technical education, curriculum development, instructional leadership, and student support. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Missouri and has also taught at Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City and Crowder College. Throughout her career, Tawni has demonstrated a deep commitment to education and to helping students recognize their potential, develop practical skills, and prepare for meaningful academic and professional futures. Her career reflects a strong combination of classroom experience, organizational leadership, strategic planning, and a student-centered approach to education.

Earlier in her career, Tawni taught business education in a small-school environment, where she developed a strong foundation in individualized instruction and student mentorship. She also provided tutoring and academic support to pregnant students in their homes, an experience that reinforced her belief in meeting students where they are and creating pathways that allow them to continue pursuing their goals. She later served as a Career Curriculum Specialist for Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, where she played an instrumental role in developing career education programs and establishing more consistent career pathways for students. Working collaboratively with counselors, parents, educators, administrators, and community stakeholders, she helped align educational opportunities with students’ interests, strengths, and future career goals. Her broader expertise includes curriculum design, educational technology, online and continuing education, program assessment, data analysis, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and organizational improvement.

Tawni’s professional leadership extends beyond the classroom. She has served in leadership roles within career and technical education, including as past president of the Missouri Association of Career and Education, and remains engaged with organizations and initiatives that support education and community development. Her involvement includes PEO, her local Retired Teachers Association, the Career Technical Education Advisory Board, and a cemetery board. Her accomplishments have been recognized through honors including the Learning for Life Award from Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and her participation in the inaugural Leadership Development Academy. Tawni holds an MBA in Business from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Education in Business Education from Missouri Southern State University, which she earned with summa cum laude honors, in addition to two associate degrees. Her success is driven by an intrinsic commitment to lifelong learning, personal growth, and service to others. Having overcome significant challenges early in life, including teen pregnancy and barriers to continuing her education, Tawni transformed those experiences into sources of resilience and motivation. Today, she continues to use her experience, leadership, and passion for education to empower students, mentor others, strengthen educational programs, and make a lasting contribution to the communities she serves.
