Her Interview

Ten minutes with Teresa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of persistence, relationships, and a willingness to never stop learning.

I’ve learned that success isn’t always about being the smartest person in the room—it’s about being willing to listen, show up, follow through, and find a way to get things done. Throughout my career, I’ve built my success by developing genuine relationships and earning people’s trust. In destination sales, people are not just buying a destination; they are trusting you to help make their event successful.

I also attribute my success to being willing to adapt and I’ve never been afraid to learn something new, embrace technology, or rethink the way we do things. Today, that includes becoming more AI-efficient and finding ways to use new tools to work smarter while still keeping the personal relationships that are at the heart of sales.

Most importantly, I believe my success comes from staying curious and continuing to grow. I’ve made mistakes, learned from them, and taken on challenges that pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, but I’m even more excited about what I can still contribute.

For me, success isn’t just about the numbers or titles. It’s about the relationships I’ve built, the people I’ve helped, the community I represent, and leaving things better than I found them.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Build your reputation before you build your résumé.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the tourism and sales industry is to show up every day and make service a priority. Every person wants to feel important, so it is essential to make your clients and partners feel valued. Build and maintain strong relationships, consistently provide top-notch service, and be a genuine people person.

I also encourage young professionals not to rely solely on email. Pick up the phone and call people. Personal connections matter, and strong relationships can open doors that an email alone cannot. Take the time to understand your clients and what is important to them.

Finally, think outside the box and focus on creating memorable experiences. Ask about the themes and goals of conferences, then develop activities that fit the client, whether that means organizing a pub crawl, golf tournament, or another customized experience. Be creative, be attentive, and look for ways to give people an experience they will remember.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are integrity, relationships, accountability, growth, and service.
