Her Interview
Ten minutes with Theresa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to building meaningful relationships, pursuing opportunities through non-traditional paths, and learning from exceptional mentors throughout my career. I have been fortunate to have several long-term mentors who have challenged and guided me, helping me grow both professionally and personally. Equally important has been my willingness to take calculated risks, embrace uncertainty, and engage in difficult conversations when necessary to create progress and meaningful results.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is simple but powerful: always maintain positive relationships. Industries, roles, and circumstances may change over time, but the way you treat people leaves a lasting impression. Building strong professional relationships based on trust, respect, and authenticity has opened doors, created opportunities, and strengthened my career in ways I could not have anticipated.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to embrace opportunities that challenge them and not allow fear to dictate their decisions. Growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and taking on responsibilities that initially feel intimidating. Prepare thoroughly, think strategically, and trust in your ability to learn and adapt. Some of the most rewarding opportunities in my career have been the ones that required courage to pursue.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the most powerful catalysts for sustained competitive advantage today is the intentional integration of diverse perspectives into how we think, decide, and execute. Organizations that actively cultivate a breadth of experiences and viewpoints don’t just enhance collaboration—they fundamentally expand their strategic horizon. This diversity of thought unlocks sharper insights, fosters breakthrough innovation, and drives more resilient, future-ready decisions. At the same time, AI is accelerating a fundamental shift in how work gets done. It’s not a side tool—it’s a performance driver. By automating routine work, it frees leaders to focus on strategy, innovation, and growth. Those who embrace it move faster, act smarter, and gain a clear edge. In regions like Alaska, success requires an added layer of agility. Complex logistics and operating conditions demand creativity, adaptability, and disciplined execution—turning constraints into competitive advantage.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, accountability, excellence, and collaboration are the values that guide me in both my professional and personal life. I believe in doing the right thing, taking ownership of my responsibilities, and consistently striving for high standards. I also recognize that meaningful success is rarely achieved alone, which is why fostering strong partnerships and working collaboratively with others are principles I prioritize every day.
