Her Story

About Traci

Traci Porter is a Business English coach who helps women professionals from around the world communicate with greater confidence in English-speaking workplaces. Her background includes a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, manufacturing experience, and nearly two decades of creating technical documentation for software companies.

Through her travels and interactions with people from different cultures, Traci developed a deep appreciation for the opportunities that strong English communication skills can create. Inspired by the challenges many professionals face when communicating in a second language, she earned a certification in teaching English as a second language and now helps women build confidence for meetings, presentations, interviews, and other workplace situations.

As a student of Arabic, Traci understands firsthand the challenges of language learning and expressing complex ideas in another language. She is passionate about helping women recognize their strengths, find their voice, and pursue new opportunities. Drawing from her own experiences in engineering and technology, she encourages young women to believe in themselves, know their worth, and speak with confidence.

Traci attributes her success to a strong family support system, supportive colleagues, and persistence. She values transparency, honesty, and flexibility, and believes that effective communication empowers women to share their ideas, expertise, and leadership with the world.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Traci

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say I have a good support system, my family. I've also had co-workers, colleagues that I felt like were allies that did help and support me. And just not giving up.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Believe in yourself and know that you're just as good.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Know your worth, know that you are valued, and don't let being the only one make you feel less.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Communication was a challenge in male-dominated fields, being heard and seen. Opportunity exists if you learn how to communicate to get your voice heard and be visible.

Transparency, honesty and flexibility.
