Her Story

About Victoria

Victoria Plyler is a healthcare professional with more than 20 years of experience spanning both clinical and operational roles. She began her career as a medical assistant before transitioning to billing and coding, and later advancing to practice management. Today, she works in corporate operations support for a medical group, where she supports a variety of initiatives, including day-to-day operations, organizational events, employee rewards and recognition, and practice openings and relocations.

Victoria is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Psychology and hopes to combine her extensive healthcare background with her passion for helping others. Her future interests include patient-centered roles such as case management, as well as nonprofit and community-based work supporting individuals and families impacted by homelessness, addiction, and other life challenges.

Throughout her career, Victoria has learned the importance of allowing both purpose and compassion to influence career decisions. She encourages young women entering healthcare to believe in their abilities, remain open to new opportunities, and avoid limiting what they can achieve.

Outside of her professional career, Victoria values giving back to her community. She has served on the PTA board at her son’s elementary school and is currently exploring volunteer opportunities with MUST Ministries, where she hopes to use her experience and passion for service to support individuals and families in need.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Victoria

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the relationships I have built throughout my career. I have never been afraid to work hard, ask questions, and take on new challenges. Moving from a medical assistant to billing and coding, practice management, and eventually corporate operations has taught me that growth often comes from being willing to step outside of your comfort zone. I also believe leading with compassion has played an important role in my success. Healthcare is ultimately about people, whether you are working directly with patients or supporting the teams who care for them. I try to approach my work with empathy, reliability, and a genuine desire to help others. Most importantly, I have learned not to limit myself based on where I started or what I thought I was capable of. I continue to look for opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally, and to pursue work that feels meaningful and makes a difference.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A career isn’t always a straight path, and sometimes the opportunities that are most meaningful aren’t the ones you originally planned for. I’ve learned to stay open to new experiences, trust myself, and pay attention to the work that gives me a sense of purpose. Some of the best decisions I’ve made in my career have come from being willing to step outside of my comfort zone and follow what genuinely feels meaningful to me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in yourself and don’t create barriers around what you think you can or cannot achieve. Be willing to try new things, step outside of your comfort zone, and put yourself out there, even when you may not feel completely ready. Some of the greatest opportunities come from simply being willing to take a chance on yourself. You may be surprised by what you are capable of and where those opportunities can lead you. Most importantly, never let fear or self-doubt determine how far you can go.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Compassion, integrity, kindness, and a strong sense of purpose are among the values most important to me, both professionally and personally. I believe in treating people with respect, leading with empathy, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I also value being dependable and showing up for others, whether that is my family, coworkers, patients, or members of my community. At the end of the day, I want the work I do and the relationships I build to have a positive impact on the people around me.
