Her Story

About Viktoriia

My career path wasn't something I planned. When I started in 2008 with Deloitte, I wasn't even sure I would pursue this field, but I decided to give it a shot. That experimental approach turned into more than 15 years in accounting and finance. I don't do one specific thing. I've worked across all different areas in accounting and finance, including pretty much all accounting areas and several areas of financial analysis such as budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and controllership functions. What makes my career unique is that every single role I've taken has been completely different from the previous one. I never enter a next role doing the same things I did before because I don't see any point in changing roles otherwise. I always try to learn something new, and that's why my next role is always different, always something better, something harder, and something more advanced. Each of my roles is my next accomplishment.

Ten minutes with Viktoriia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to constant learning. It's not about being stuck in one area of accounting or finance. It's constant addition of knowledge - a little bit of everything: a little bit of finance, a little bit of accounting, a little bit of technology, a little bit of business intelligence, a little bit of soft skills. All of this together takes me to the next level. I would say that it is constant learning that drives my success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would suggest trying yourself in different fields and choosing whatever you like the most. Don't get stuck with one specific career, or one specific place, or one specific role. If you try something new, you might like it better, so be open to trying different things, trying different areas in finance and accounting, and choose the one that suits you best.
