Her Interview

Ten minutes with Wanjiru

01What do you attribute your success to?

My parents sacrificed and worked really hard to make sure we had a good education and solid foundation. We were raised with strong values of being humble and doing your best no matter what. My parents raised me and my sister with that foundation even though we've been separated for years, with my sister in Canada and mom traveling, and my father still in Kenya serving the community.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be yourself and just be authentic. When making mistakes or feeling overwhelmed, communicate with your team because life happens and being transparent and honest with people you work with is very important.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Have faith, be strong, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes and that's part of the learning process.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The technology we use is everything done with paper which is dated. There's an opportunity to recalibrate systems so every person has important documents with easier access instead of flipping through paperwork. AI would be helpful to get answers in less than 10 seconds and systemize everything to be organized.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The value that guides me most is leading with love. I believe compassion, empathy, and kindness create meaningful connections and a positive impact in both my work and personal life.
