Her Story

About Yadira

Yadira Fortunato, LCSW, is a bilingual psychotherapist and the driving force behind Think Out Loud, PLLC, a private practice based in Goshen, New York. She is deeply dedicated to supporting women as they navigate overwhelm, anxiety, trauma, chronic stress, and people-pleasing patterns.

A specialist in trauma-informed care, Yadira is highly sought after for her Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) intensives. ART is an evidence-based method that incorporates guided eye movements to help clients rapidly process difficult experiences. By offering concentrated two- to four-hour intensive sessions, Yadira provides a powerful, highly focused alternative for individuals who want faster, more profound relief than traditional weekly therapy can offer.

In addition to her signature intensives and individual psychotherapy, Yadira provides comprehensive mental health evaluations for immigration matters. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, she conducts expert evaluations for hardship waivers, asylum, VAWA, U Visa, T Visa, and cancellation of removal cases.

Active in the mental health field since 2012, Yadira brings a wealth of expertise from across private practice and major healthcare systems, including Montefiore Health System, Healthfirst, and Jacobi Medical Center. She earned her Master of Social Work from Lehman College. Beyond her clinical work, she is a dedicated community advocate, serving as a board member for Goshen SEPTSA to support special education. Through every facet of her work, Yadira remains fiercely committed to helping individuals cultivate self-awareness, break free from limiting patterns, and create deeply meaningful, sustainable change in their lives.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Yadira

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is built on a foundation of 14 years in the mental health field and the strategic growth of my private practice over the last six years. It stems from a clear commitment to my niche: empowering women to overcome chronic overwhelm and people-pleasing behaviors. By integrating Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and specialized Therapy Intensives into my practice, I provide the focused, transformative care my clients need to break the patterns holding them back.

Beyond the strong clinical education I received at Lehman College, my drive is rooted in my personal history. Serving as the eldest English-speaking daughter in an immigrant family taught me early on how to navigate complex systems and advocate for others. Those experiences naturally shaped my path into social work and continue to inform the culturally responsive, dedicated care I provide today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that I can use my unique, given abilities to build a career that is both successful and deeply rewarding. That perspective encouraged me to recognize the specific strengths I bring to my work and to use them in ways that genuinely serve and support others. I truly believe that professional fulfillment comes from aligning your natural abilities and passions with a purpose, one that allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The best advice I would give to young women entering my industry is to always be your true, authentic self. Do not feel pressured to change who you are to fit someone else’s expectations or to succeed professionally. Embrace your unique perspective, strengths, and experiences, and allow them to guide the way you build your career. Authenticity creates confidence, meaningful connections, and the foundation for a career that is both fulfilling and true to who you are.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities I see in mental health right now is expanding the way we think about therapy. Weekly 50-minute sessions are helpful for many people, but they’re not the only way therapy has to look. Some clients need more uninterrupted time to work through something without stopping just as they’re getting somewhere. I’m excited about models like therapy intensives because they give us another option and allow treatment to be more individualized to the person sitting in front of us.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are authenticity, family, service, and freedom. I believe deeply in showing up as yourself, both personally and professionally, and creating a life that reflects what actually matters to you. In my work, that means meeting people where they are, respecting their individual experiences, and helping them create meaningful change without asking them to become someone they’re not.
