Her Story

About Yohanna

Yohanna LouisJacques brings more than 15 years of experience to the healthcare industry, where she specializes in medical administration and writing. Growing up with a mother who worked as an LPN nurse, she developed an early passion for patient care through volunteering at health fairs and fundraising for St. Jude's during her school years. Her career has spanned multiple departments in geriatrics, including activities, marketing, caregiving, medication administration, and executive administration for assisted living and home health companies, as well as freelance contracting between hospitals and home health providers throughout Georgia. As a marketing strategist, she focuses on matching quality care with clients. Beyond her administrative work, LouisJacques draws inspiration from her patient interactions and faith to write short inspirational stories and longer novels, including a reimagined dialogue from the book of Genesis. She remains active in church volunteering and has participated in missionary trips to South Carolina, Panama City, and France.

Ten minutes with Yohanna

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

One advice I can honestly say is don't expect the unexpected. Healthcare is forever changing. Your experience 2 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago might not be the same experience that's gonna happen for you. Expect the unexpected, but go in with a heart of compassion, because this field is not for the weak-hearted at all. You have to be ballsy. You have to want to be here, because there's so much industry, but there's no other industry where someone can go in, literally walk in, and care for someone, make a difference physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The value, I will have to say, is learning to love myself and put myself first so that I'm able to do that back to others. If I don't value myself, my own life, my perspective, my own mental, my own emotion, I literally had to go to counseling last year for a couple of months just so I can revalue myself and fine-tune myself to be a better version of myself not only for my kids, my family, as a woman, patients, my crew. You have to take care of yourself. There's no way you're gonna drive the wheels off if you don't take care of yourself. In 2026 we've experienced COVID, wars, economical difficulties, financial difficulties, hardship. So it's really important to take a moment to value yourself, take time to take care of yourself, breathe, exercise, eat healthy when you can, and don't be afraid to spend a little money on yourself and go and take a small vacation or do a staycation.
