Ten minutes with Yvette

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the resilience, determination, and strong work ethic that were instilled in me from a young age. As the daughter of an immigrant, I watched my mother overcome incredible challenges after my father passed away unexpectedly, inspiring me to work hard, stay resourceful, and persevere through adversity. From helping support my family as a child to volunteering in my local parish, I learned the importance of service, responsibility, and giving back—values that continue to guide both my personal and professional life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that true purpose comes from bridging life’s gaps with positivity, resilience, hope, opportunity, and a commitment to growth. By cultivating these qualities, I’ve learned to build a meaningful career rooted not only in success, but also in personal fulfillment and the ability to create a positive impact on others.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities in my field is using media as a platform to inspire, empower, and create meaningful change. The COVID-19 pandemic reinforced the importance of sharing stories that foster hope, highlight untapped potential, and connect people with opportunities for growth. This inspired me to found, produce, and host ABC News and Talk, where I focus on amplifying overlooked voices, strengthening communities, and creating national exposure for individuals and organizations making a positive impact.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are authenticity, service, community, and integrity. I believe in building genuine relationships, advocating for others, and creating opportunities that inspire growth and success. Through my work, I strive to bring positivity, meaningful solutions, and valuable insights to the people and communities I serve, while using my experience to make a lasting and positive impact.
