Yvonne Ramirez-Zimmermann is a Strategic Engagement Specialist at Chad Jones Law in College Station, Texas, with 17 years of experience in the legal field. Her journey has been one of steady growth and dedication, beginning when she entered the profession as a part-time receptionist to get her foot in the door. Although she had always envisioned a future in corporate law in a large metropolitan city, life shifted as she married and started a family at a young age. Determined to stay connected to her passion, she embraced an opportunity through a friend attorney who introduced her to a front desk role, marking the beginning of a long and meaningful career in law.

From answering phones and managing mail to working directly on cases, Yvonne advanced alongside the firm as it expanded from a small operation with limited resources into a multi-location organization across Texas, including College Station, Midland, Lubbock, and Temple. Her experience spans personal injury law, Social Security Disability, criminal law, and immigration, where she was part of a team that achieved a 100 percent approval rate and witnessed the life changing moment of clients becoming naturalized citizens. Over time, she discovered her true passion in personal injury law, where she could support individuals facing unexpected and life altering circumstances. She also played a key role in building the firm’s infrastructure, helping develop departments, workflows, and specialized roles such as legal support assistants, investigators, case managers, and records specialists as the organization scaled.

In her current role, Yvonne focuses on strengthening relationships with medical providers to ensure clients receive timely care, even when facing financial or insurance barriers. She also collaborates closely with firm leadership to support strategic growth initiatives, including expansion into new regions across Texas and potentially beyond, while overseeing operations across multiple offices and identifying areas of greatest need. At the heart of her work is a commitment to easing the burden on clients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, allowing them to focus on healing while the firm handles the complexities of their cases. For Yvonne, this work is not just about legal outcomes, but about building meaningful relationships, supporting families through pivotal life events, and contributing to a mission that positions the firm as a true community partner.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I've always told people, tell me I can't, and I'll show you I can. I'm very much a go-getter. I don't like being told no, and when people tell me no, I work to find another way. I ask, help me help you - I understand that you're not able to provide that specific information, but what other information can you provide? I'm probably a good negotiator. I'm persistent, I'm a great communicator, and I don't take no for an answer. That drive to prove people wrong when they doubt me has been a huge part of my success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't give up. It's not gonna be easy. I think a lot of people come in when we interview them and they say they like the legal field, they see it on TV, it looks really interesting and like a lot of fun. But TV makes it look all great and easy, and it's not easy. Once you start learning the mechanics of how things work and the processes of what has to be done in order to get the information that you need, the end result is so fulfilling. It's gonna be hard, you know. For us in personal injury, people may have lost their children, minor children, spouses, parents, friends who were in the wreck, and all of that's traumatic. We help carry that weight with them so they're not alone. Just know that the days are gonna be hard, but the end result, the resolved, is worth it. You've helped them get through something that they didn't think was possible.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being told that without a four-year degree, things aren't possible. So many young women give up because they don't think that they could bring any value or new ideas or concepts to a business, and that's completely not true. I also feel that there's such a stigma that you can't have a family and have a full-time job because one's going to lack. That's not true either. It's just a matter of knowing and learning balance, and knowing how to delegate tasks or projects that don't necessarily need all of your time, just need you to oversee them.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, and being true to who you are. These values guide everything I do, both professionally and personally. I believe in being authentic and maintaining my integrity in all my relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or in my personal life.
