About Zakiya
Zakiya Murphy is a film and media producer, actress, storyteller, and the creator, executive producer, and host of The Keyhole Podcast. Based in the Washington, D.C.–Baltimore area, she began her career in the entertainment industry after earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from Morgan State University and relocating to Los Angeles. Determined to gain hands-on experience, she worked in a variety of production roles—including acting, production assistance, craft services, and catering—building a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process. Her passion for storytelling was inspired by childhood trips to the movies with her father, where she discovered the power of film to educate, entertain, and connect people.
As the creator of The Keyhole Podcast, Murphy has built a platform that highlights authentic conversations with filmmakers, artists, entrepreneurs, and professionals from diverse industries. What began as a podcast centered on film and media has evolved into a space where guests share the experiences, challenges, and defining moments that have shaped their personal and professional journeys. In addition to producing and hosting the podcast, Murphy is pursuing a Master of Arts in Film Producing and Management at Regent University, where she is expanding her expertise in production management, budgeting, and the business of entertainment.
Murphy is committed to balancing creativity with the strategic and technical aspects of media production, recognizing that success in the entertainment industry requires both artistic vision and sound business acumen. She believes in lifelong learning and credits the many professionals and experiences throughout her career with strengthening her creative confidence and technical knowledge. Looking ahead, she plans to continue growing The Keyhole Podcast, expand into larger producing and hosting opportunities, and create compelling stories that inspire meaningful conversations while remaining grounded in authenticity, creativity, and continuous professional growth.
