When She Realized Her Reputation Was Built One Interaction at a Time
Discovering that small choices can have a lasting professional impact.
Discovering that small choices can have a lasting professional impact.
Your reputation isn't built by the biggest project you lead. It's built in the small moments, following through on your word, treating people with respect, and showing up consistently. I've learned that people rarely remember the technology you implemented, but they'll always remember how you made them feel while doing it.
In our industry, how we respond and approach problem solving is critical to our success. We embrace the fact that mistakes happen, but we prioritize accountability and teamwork over blame. Over the years, our clients have observed that when a challenging issue arises, our team's ability to respond quickly, think creatively, and be vested toward a solution consistently delivers positive outcomes.
In my personal life and professional life, it is important to me to remember that people won't always remember what you said or even did but they will remember how you made them feel. Making sure every person I sit down with feels seen, heard, cared for and respected will always be the most important aspect of my success in business, and I know that will pay off in dividends I will never have to feel guilty in receiving and earning.
I started listening to my students; I started smiling before Christmas; I taught (teach) every single student I have on the first day of class the best advice my mom gave to me: "You are the only one who has to get up and look in the mirror every, single day. You need to be happy with what you see looking back." My own quote (and it takes students longer than it should to get the joke): Turkeys are done; people are finished.
