From Stress and Inflammation to Health and Healing
The Importance of Structuring an “A” Team

My health and wellness journey began in my mid-twenties. I started to feel the cumulative effects of stress which began as a young child and progressed, causing insomnia, affecting my career, and ultimately taking its toll on my digestive system.
Upon a suggestion of my then husband, I sought help from a well-respected N.D. - Doctor of Naturopathy in Washington, D.C.
After conducting a thorough examination which included a physical exam, iridology, and blood analysis, I was given my diagnosis and herbal tinctures to relieve symptoms. I was told that my body was showing signs of inflammation due to stress, unhealthy eating habits and not enough physical activity. I was asked what my background was in and if I was pursuing my passion, which was writing, and if I had actually been writing. I had to admit that I had not been writing for quite a while.
My naturopath explained that when a person is gifted with creative skills and talents that are not used, it affects the body and mind. She said that disease is when the body is ill-at-ease. She suggested I continue to pursue my passion and see if my sleep would begin to improve.
I was given several books to take home and read, one of which was titled, You Can’t Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought by John-Roger – Author of The Power Within You and Peter McWilliams – Author of How to Survive the Loss of a Love.
And thus began my love of myself and my pursuit to learn as much as I could about naturally healing and the mind/body connection.
I began to devour anything that was related to living a healthy lifestyle and surround myself with professionals who practiced wholistic health.
I became a proponent of doing the right thing for my health and mainly sought naturopaths for any of my health concerns.
I later focused my writing on health and wellness topics, writing for newspapers and magazines, and eventually co-publishing my own newsmagazine with a strong health and wellness section.
Helping others achieve their health and wellness goals became my joyful passion, and I did that through writing articles, creating health and wellness newsletters, producing podcasts, interviewing health and wellness professionals, conducting health and wellness seminars, etc.
Next, I became a Natural Health Consultant and Certified Weight-Loss Coach.
As I continued my journey, I began to work with groups of people in churches and various organizations to help others become healthier.
But as your health and wellness career expands and transforms into a business, there is one aspect of growing your business that you must attain in order to keep your joy, and minimize stress, and that is: You must structure an A team. You must develop and organize a team of like-minded professionals who are able and willing to see the full vision that you have of helping others improve their health.
You will need to structure a team that keeps your business strong.
For example, in my business/ministry, I have a team which includes writers, organizers, accountants, lawyers, managers, volunteers, speakers, and other health and wellness professionals, such as chiropractors, yoga instructions, fitness instructors, psychologists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, etc.
Don’t stress yourself out because you haven’t structured your team! Take your time and get it right!
Learn from your experiences that can help you find your calling, what God has shaped you to be, and is yet shaping you to become. God is the potter, and we are his clay. Allow Him to form you into his masterpiece, helping others and structuring your team for success.
