A Miracle in the Making: From Homelessness to Moving Mountains
Some stories are written with comfort and certainty. Others are written with tears, heartbreak, resilience, and unwavering determination. Mine is one of those stories.
There was a time when I had no place to call home. Life had knocked me down repeatedly through sexual and physical violence, alcoholism, and trauma, leaving me questioning whether I would ever find my purpose. I carried the weight of pain, fear, self-doubt, and uncertainty, yet somewhere deep inside was a tiny spark that refused to go out. It whispered that my story wasn't over.
In 2011, while standing beside a man named Toothless Joe, I made a decision that changed my life forever.
Instead of allowing my circumstances to define me, I chose to believe that I was capable of something greater. One step at a time, I rebuilt my life. It wasn't easy. There were many tears, setbacks, disappointments, and moments when giving up seemed like the simplest option. But every challenge became another opportunity to grow stronger. Eventually, that determination led me into one of the most demanding industries in the world—mining.
Moving Mountains
Today, I operate some of the largest mining equipment on Earth. Every shift reminds me that no dream is too big and no obstacle is too great when you refuse to quit. Sitting high above the ground in machines that weigh nearly one million pounds, I often think about the incredible journey that brought me here. The distance between homelessness and operating these massive machines wasn't measured in miles—it was measured in courage.
But my journey didn't stop there.
Using My Voice to Lift Others
I discovered another calling: using my voice to lift others.
As the co-host of the multi-award-winning Women Road Warriors Talk Show, alongside the incredible Shelley Johnson, I have the privilege of sharing conversations with extraordinary women from around the world. Together, we celebrate resilience, leadership, innovation, healing, and hope. Every episode reminds listeners that success isn't reserved for a select few—it belongs to anyone willing to keep moving forward despite life's obstacles.
My mission has become bigger than my own success.
Whether I'm speaking to audiences, writing books, creating educational materials for children, or interviewing remarkable women, my purpose is always the same: to help others believe in themselves. I want people to understand that their current situation does not determine their future. Your past may explain where you've been, but it never has to determine where you're going.

Life will test every one of us. There will be moments when fear whispers that you're not enough. There will be people who doubt your dreams. There will be setbacks that seem impossible to overcome.

If my life has taught me anything, it's that miracles rarely happen overnight. They are created through thousands of small decisions to keep moving forward, even when quitting would be easier. They are built on perseverance, faith, determination, and the willingness to dream bigger than your circumstances.

I am living proof that miracles still happen.
The little girl who once struggled to imagine a future now operates some of the world's largest machines. The woman who once faced homelessness now speaks to audiences, writes books that inspire people around the world, and helps share the stories of incredible women across the globe.
None of this happened because life became easy. It happened because I chose not to give up.
If you're facing your own mountain today, remember this: Your greatest setback may become the foundation of your greatest success. Every challenge carries within it the opportunity to become stronger, wiser, and more compassionate.
Never let anyone tell you your dreams are too big. The world needs people who dare to believe that the impossible is only a starting point.
