Lessons in Love, Compassion, and Finding Purpose Through Caregiving and Passion
I am honored to share the wisdom I have gained from my young 30 years.
First and foremost, the people in your community and the peers you share your love and energy with need to be people who love and respect you.
The people around you can directly affect how you carry yourself at work and how you treat your coworkers and the people you are helping.
Kindness and empathy can carry and strengthen your work skills and work ethic.
My job as a caregiver has taught me that if I were ever in a position where I could not take care of myself, I would be scared. It is my job to ensure that the people I care for feel valued and maintain their dignity during the later stages of their lives.
For the past ten years, I have been dreaming of becoming a professional ballerina. I have the confidence that my caregiving career has prepared me with the skills and qualities of love, patience, grace, and compassion.
As I perfect the turns, twists, and positions, I remind myself to always keep an open mind. I will always need to continue learning and developing.
Please, whatever job you are doing or whatever skill you are acquiring, do it with love.
Find beauty in what you do for others.
Lastly, have faith that what you are doing is making a difference.
Thank you,
Joy Gitau
