About Joy
Joy Gitau serves as a caregiver for the elderly at her mother's adult family home, Joyous Hope, in Washington. She has held this role for about two years, assisting with daily activities, games, trivia, light cooking, music therapy, walks, and chair workouts to maintain residents' quality of life. Prior to this, she worked at a nursing home during COVID times for about a year, where she helped facilitate safe family visits. Joy holds an HCA certification that includes CPR training and has passed the Washington state test. In addition to her caregiving work, she has practiced ballet self-taught for about 10 years and enjoys blending it with other styles such as hip-hop. She also loves poetry, art, and painting. Gitau aspires to become a ballet teacher and plans to attend an intensive program in New York to further her dance skills while continuing to value her experiences in caregiving.
