Finding Myself Through Change, Motherhood, and Purpose

There are seasons in life that change you completely. Some changes come slowly, while others arrive all at once, forcing you to rebuild, rediscover, and redefine who you are. For me, becoming a newly single mom while continuing to grow in the corporate world has been one of the most challenging, eye-opening, and empowering chapters of my life.

I found myself moving out on my own with my daughter, trying to create stability in the midst of personal change while also learning how to trust myself again. Coming from an Indian culture where divorce is often not accepted or understood, choosing a different path was not easy. There were expectations, judgments, and quiet pressures that made the journey even harder. But through it all, I began finding my true self. I learned that happiness matters. Peace matters. Building a life that feels honest, healthy, and fulfilling matters.

My Daughter, My Why

My daughter has been my strength and my "why" through all of it. She is wild-spirited, full of life, strong-willed, and beautifully herself. One of my greatest goals in life is to make sure she knows her worth. I want her to grow up knowing she should always be happy, always feel valued, and never settle for less than she deserves. I want her to see that strength does not mean staying in places that break you. Sometimes, strength means starting over and building something better.

A Career That Shifted but a Purpose That Did Not

At the same time, my professional life continued to grow. I left behind a career path in healthcare, which had once been a deep passion of mine. Helping others was something I was taught from a young age. I cared for my aging grandparents and other family members through multiple illnesses, and through those experiences, I realized how much purpose I found in serving others. That passion led me to pursue nursing school with the goal of becoming an RN. But after years of trying, I finally became pregnant, and then COVID changed everything. I never returned to finish that path.

Even though my career shifted, my purpose did not. I found a new way to help people administratively, strategically, and professionally. I grew into a role where I could support leaders, build trust, drive initiatives, coordinate meaningful work, and help others succeed behind the scenes. I discovered that service-driven leadership does not exist only in healthcare. It exists anywhere you choose to lead with care, accountability, and heart.

In the corporate world, I have learned how important it is to build support, trust, and strong relationships. I have taken pride in helping move initiatives forward, supporting leadership, solving problems, organizing chaos, and being someone others can count on. I have grown into someone who wants to do more than simply complete tasks. I want to make an impact. I want to help create structure, support others, and contribute in a meaningful way.

Hardship, Health, and Choosing Myself

But this season of growth has not been without hardship. I experienced my first major car accident, which shook me in ways I did not expect. I also faced another unexpected medical emergency that reminded me how quickly life can change. It forced me to pause and realize that taking care of myself is not selfish - it is necessary. Life is short, and in order to be the mother, professional, advocate, and person I want to be, I have to make my own health and well-being a priority. My daughter depends on me, but more than that, she is watching me. I want her to see a woman who is strong enough to care for others but also wise enough to care for herself.

Living with endometriosis has also shaped so much of my journey. It has taught me how important it is to advocate for myself, ask questions, push for answers, and refuse to stay silent when something feels wrong. It has also made me passionate about advocating for others. I know what it feels like to be dismissed, overwhelmed, exhausted, and still expected to keep going. That experience has made me more compassionate, more determined, and more committed to helping others feel seen and supported.

Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone

Through all of these changes, I also began doing things I never imagined I would do on my own. I stepped outside my comfort zone. I went on new adventures. I rebuilt my confidence. I found joy again. I learned that life after change can still be beautiful. It can be full of growth, laughter, purpose, and unexpected happiness.

Today, my life is well established, but it is also more authentic. I am continuing to grow in my career, and I truly enjoy the work I do each day. I hope to keep growing in meaningful ways, not only professionally but personally. I want to continue becoming a stronger leader, a better advocate, and a more grounded version of myself.

Most importantly, I want to stand beside my daughter as she grows and thrives into the wonderful person she is meant to become. She has given me strength I did not know I had. She has reminded me why I keep going, why I keep pushing, and why I keep choosing joy.

Carrying Many Titles and Still Being Whole

My story is not just about being a single mom, a professional, a woman with endometriosis, or someone who had to start over. It is about learning that we can carry many titles and still be whole. It is about finding purpose in unexpected places. It is about choosing happiness, building trust, advocating for ourselves, and creating a life our children can be proud to witness.

And above all, it is about showing my daughter that she is worthy of a life filled with love, strength, purpose, and joy - because I am learning to believe that for myself too.
