Finding My Footing—and My Independence
I never had a carefully mapped-out career plan. What I had was something far more valuable: the freedom to make my own decisions and the courage to own them. From an early age, my father gave me the space to chart my own path—and that gift of independence became the foundation of everything I have built since.
Every decision I have made in my career, whether it led to success or a difficult lesson, has been entirely my own. And that is precisely why I have never had regrets. When you take full ownership of your choices, failure is never a dead end—it is a detour that teaches you something you could not have learned any other way.
I have come to believe that the greatest growth happens not in the moments when everything goes right, but in the moments when you are forced to figure out what comes next.
A Career Built on Precision and Purpose
My professional journey began in India, where I spent five years as a Senior Reconciliation Associate at Citigroup Global Markets. It was there that I developed the technical expertise and professional discipline that continue to define my work today—expertise in financial analysis, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and the meticulous attention to detail required in the world of investment banking.
Those five years were formative in more ways than one. It was during this time that a manager—someone who saw my potential long before I saw it myself—quietly changed the trajectory of my career.
While I wrestled with self-doubt, he consistently pushed me to recognize my own capabilities. His belief in me became a mirror I did not know I needed. It made me realize that if someone who had closely observed my work believed I was capable of achieving more, perhaps it was time I believed it too.
That experience gave me a principle I carry with me to this day: never let self-doubt define your limits.

Bridging Investment Banking and Fintech Innovation
Today, I am based in the Bay Area, contributing to a fast-growing fintech startup where I apply nearly a decade of financial expertise to the challenges and opportunities of an industry in constant motion.
The transition from a global investment banking institution to an agile startup was not without its learning curve—but it was one I embraced wholeheartedly.
My background in compliance, accounting, risk, and controls has proven to be a powerful asset in the fintech space, where the stakes are high and the margin for error is slim. I have further strengthened this expertise through certifications in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and QuickBooks—tools I actively use in my day-to-day work that help me remain sharp in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
I hold a Master’s in Business Administration (2021) and a Bachelor’s in Commerce (2016), both focused on banking and investment. But if I am honest, the most important education I have received has come from the work itself—from the deals, discrepancies, deadlines, and decisions made under pressure.

The single most defining force reshaping the fintech industry today is artificial intelligence. It is simultaneously one of the greatest challenges and one of the greatest opportunities professionals in this space will face in the coming decade.

But here is what I know to be true: AI cannot replace human judgment, ethical reasoning, or the nuanced expertise that comes from years of working within complex financial systems.
The professionals who will thrive are not those who compete with AI, but those who learn to work alongside it—bringing their irreplaceable human perspective to complement what technology can do.
My advice to every professional navigating this shift is simple: stay curious, commit to continuous learning, and never stop upgrading your skills.
