Purpose Over Recognition: A Journey of Leadership, Growth, and Impact
Being recognized in Influential Women Magazine is an incredible honor, but this recognition represents so much more than a single achievement. It reflects every moment when I questioned whether I was capable enough, strong enough, or qualified enough. There were countless times when I wondered if all the hard work was truly making a difference.
The Journey Behind the Achievement
This recognition represents years of choosing purpose over comfort, perseverance over excuses, and service over recognition. It represents the late nights, the planning, the meetings, the endless to-do lists, and the moments when self-doubt crept in and I questioned my decisions.
There is a common misconception that confident women never struggle with confidence. We do. Courage is not the absence of doubt; it is choosing to move forward despite it.
Finding My Voice
Growing up, I was taught to be respectful, humble, and obedient. Like many women, I was encouraged to keep my head down, say yes, and avoid drawing attention to myself. Those values taught me kindness and respect, but as I progressed in my career, I realized that leadership also requires having a voice, setting healthy boundaries, and advocating for yourself and others.
For many years, I struggled to set boundaries because I believed saying yes to everything was the right thing to do. As I moved into leadership, I learned that boundaries are not barriers; they are essential for maintaining integrity, protecting your well-being, and being the best leader, colleague, mother, and friend you can be.
Setting boundaries allowed me to lead with greater clarity, make better decisions, and create healthier relationships in both my professional and personal life.
Growth Happens Outside Your Comfort Zone
Finding my voice, stepping into leadership, and breaking through barriers required courage. Growth does not happen by staying comfortable; it comes from resilience, continuous learning, the confidence to stand by your values, and the willingness to keep showing up, even when the path is uncertain.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of leading initiatives that strengthen organizations, advance compliance, and create opportunities to educate and empower others. Whether through my professional work, nonprofit leadership, or workforce development, I have learned that meaningful impact takes time.
Patience, consistency, and a commitment to serving others have been some of my greatest teachers.
My Greatest Leadership Role
While I am proud of my professional accomplishments, my greatest achievement will always be being a mother.
My children, Prapti and Mukt, have been my greatest sources of inspiration and motivation. Every challenge I faced and every goal I pursued was driven by my desire to show them that hard work, resilience, integrity, and kindness truly matter.
Watching my daughter grow into a confident young leader has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Seeing her serve in an officer leadership position at her school reminds me that leadership begins long before a career; it begins with character, service, and the courage to step forward.
Gratitude for Those Who Made It Possible
This recognition is not mine alone. It belongs to every mentor who believed in me, every colleague who challenged me to grow, every organization that entrusted me with leadership opportunities, my family and friends, especially Shruti and Yogini, who stood beside me through every high and low, and my children, who inspire me every single day.
Thank you to my coworker and dear friend, Carmitra, whose encouragement, positivity, and unwavering belief in me have continually inspired me to keep going, even during the most challenging moments.
A special thank you also goes to my Managing Director, Rebecca Mirinda, for believing in me, supporting my journey, and encouraging my growth as a leader.
A Message to the Next Generation
I hope this feature reminds someone, especially the next generation of young women, that their dreams are valid, their voices matter, and they never have to choose between being kind and being confident.
You can lead with humility, set healthy boundaries, remain true to your values, and still make a lasting impact.
This recognition is not the destination; it is simply another reminder that when purpose leads, impact follows.
If my journey encourages even one person to believe in themselves a little more, speak up a little louder, or pursue a dream they once thought was out of reach, then this honor carries an even greater purpose.
