Who I Am and Why I Do This Work
My name is Deborah Lee Darling. I am a licensed real estate professional with eXp Realty, the founder of Find a Darling Home, and the creator of the 5Cs to Clarity™-a step-by-step framework designed specifically for Downriver empty nesters who are ready to move from confusion to confidence.
I call myself The Clarity Coach for Stuck Homeowners. Not because it sounds good, but because it's exactly what I do.
The reason I do this work, however, goes much deeper than a title.
My Story
Thirty-one years ago, I became a mother for the first time. I was studying ophthalmology while working in the automotive industry, trying to build a better future for myself and my daughter.
Two years later, I went through a divorce.
Suddenly, I was navigating everything alone: transportation, housing, childcare, a full-time job, and school. All at once. All on one income. All without a roadmap.
I kept going. I took additional night classes to finish my degree more quickly. I worked long hours. I saved everything I could. Eventually, I purchased my first home as a single mother.
That home meant everything to me. It wasn't just a property. It was proof that even during life's hardest seasons, you can rebuild, move forward, and create something that feels like peace.
Years later, I remarried, had my second daughter, and thought life had finally steadied. Then I faced a second divorce. Another relocation. Another season of starting over with my girls, making difficult housing decisions while carrying the emotional weight of it all.
I know what it feels like to make housing decisions during a difficult season. I know what it feels like to be stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure of what comes next.
That's exactly why, after a long career as a healthcare professional in ophthalmology, I transitioned fully into real estate.
I didn't just want to sell homes.
I wanted to help people the way I wish someone had helped me.
What I Know About Being an Empty Nester
Today, I am an empty nester myself.
