It Started With a Question
How paying attention to a problem shaped my purpose
It didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with a question.
Early in my career, I managed a gas station. Audit days were always tense. There were long hours spent trying to understand numbers that didn’t quite line up. Everyone worked hard, yet there was often uncertainty. I remember thinking, There has to be a better way to make this easier for the people carrying this responsibility.
That question stayed with me.
I didn’t have a background in technology at the time. I didn’t have all the answers. What I had was real-world experience and a desire to help. Over time, that small question grew into something bigger. It became a sense of purpose.
Building in tech has stretched me in ways I never expected. It has required patience, humility, and a willingness to learn in public. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t something you wake up with; it’s something that develops when you keep showing up, even while you’re still figuring things out.
As a woman building in this space, I’ve come to understand that strength doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks steady. Sometimes it looks like listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and building something with care.
I didn’t begin this journey trying to prove anything. I began it because I believed everyday business owners deserved better tools and greater clarity. That belief led to the creation of Aethreallegence, a company focused on helping businesses gain clearer visibility into their operations in a way that feels supportive, not overwhelming.
I am still learning. I am still growing. But I have learned that you don’t need to feel fully ready to take the first step. Sometimes purpose reveals itself when you decide not to ignore what you’ve seen.
