It's Time for Spring Home Maintenance
March 11 2026

Home maintenance is a year-round job, and every homeowner should have a list of projects to tackle each season.
This keeps your home in good shape while also ensuring that it retains its property value (and could even increase your equity).
So, what should you be working on as spring arrives? Here are six tasks to complete before the season is over.
Interior
Change your HVAC filters. This is especially important as we move past the colder season, when more people are indoors and your furnace is used more often.
Spray for pests. As the weather heats up, more bugs and other pests will start to emerge. Treating your house early could keep them from infesting the property later.
Check your windows and doors. Inspect all your windows and doors for potential leaks or gaps where air could be getting in (or out). Install weatherstripping or caulk gaps to keep your home more energy-efficient.
Exterior
Trim your trees. Trim back trees that have grown close to or over your house, and look for any limbs that may be drooping due to winter storm damage.
Clean out your gutters. Winter can be rough on your gutters, and they can easily become clogged with debris. Clearing them is critical to ensuring water can flow through them when spring showers start.
Check your sprinkler system. If you have a sprinkler system, you likely winterized it before the weather got too cold. You’ll need to reverse that, and check for any damage to sprinkler heads or other parts.
