From Accounting to Leadership: How Listening to Clients Shaped My Journey in Adjudication Software

I never set out with the goal of becoming a leader in technology—let alone in a highly specialized space like adjudication software. My journey has been shaped by curiosity, perseverance, and a deep respect for the foundation laid before me. Being recognized as an Influential Woman in Business is especially meaningful because it reflects not only my own path, but also the legacy, values, and people behind WLT Software.
WLT Software is a family-owned company founded by my father, Bill Tiner, whose vision and principles continue to guide how we operate today. As a second-generation leader, I carry both the responsibility and the privilege of building upon what he started. My father firmly believed that success in software comes from listening—not assuming—and he lived by a simple but powerful philosophy: “We know programming, but our clients know the TPA business.”
That statement has shaped our culture for decades. It reinforces the idea that while we bring technical expertise, our clients bring the operational knowledge that truly defines how our adjudication system, MediClaims, and all other modules should function. Their input is not optional—it is essential. This belief continues to influence every product decision, enhancement, and service model at WLT Software.
My own career path began outside of technology, with a foundation in accounting and finance. After more than a decade in that field, I joined WLT Software in 2002 as an Implementation Specialist. Working directly with clients gave me invaluable insight into how adjudication software is used in real-world environments—and how critical it is that systems adapt to clients, not the other way around.
I later served as Chief Financial Officer, helping guide the company’s financial strategy and long-term stability. In 2017, I became President and CEO, stepping into a role that allows me to balance innovation with the values my father instilled: integrity, partnership, and a relentless focus on client success.
Today, WLT Software delivers a flexible adjudication and benefit administration platform that supports healthcare, workers’ compensation, government programs, TPAs, and self-administered plans. Our solutions are designed to handle complex benefit structures while achieving high auto-adjudication rates and operational efficiency. Under my leadership, we continue to modernize our technology while preserving the consultative, client-driven approach that has always defined us.
One of my strongest beliefs is that software success does not stop at implementation. True value comes from ongoing collaboration. That is why we emphasize optimization services and continuous improvement—ensuring our clients fully leverage their systems and adapt as their business evolves. This approach directly reflects my father’s teaching: when we listen to our clients, the technology gets better.
As a woman leading in a traditionally male-dominated technology industry, I also understand the importance of representation and mentorship. I am proud to lead a company where women play key roles across departments and leadership levels. My hope is that my journey encourages other women to see opportunity in technical and specialized fields like adjudication software—and to lead with confidence, expertise, and authenticity.
My nomination as an Influential Woman is not just a personal milestone. It is a recognition of generational leadership, strong values, and the belief that technology is most powerful when it is built in partnership with the people who use it.
