Loud Conversations About Sales, Episode No. 7
Real Talk for Sales Professionals
There’s a meaningful difference between what we want and what we are intentional about—and that difference always shows up in results.
Wants are easy to say out loud.
Intentions require decisions, discipline, and follow-through.
In earlier editions, I’ve talked about grit, consistency, mentorship, and doing the work when it’s uncomfortable. This week’s message builds on all of that: intentions are where those ideas come to life.
In sales—and in life—intentions reveal priorities.
Many people want to hit quota.
Intentional people build pipeline consistently, follow up with purpose, and prepare before every conversation—especially the ones that matter most.
Many want better clients or stronger relationships.
Intentional people qualify thoroughly, set boundaries, and walk away from opportunities that don’t align, even when it’s tempting to say yes.
Some want growth, confidence, or leadership.
Intentional people invest in self-development, ask for feedback, seek mentorship, and stay accountable when progress feels slow.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned—often reinforced by mentors—is that growth doesn’t come from wanting more. It comes from being intentional about the habits, choices, and standards we keep every day. Grit without intention leads to burnout. Discipline without intention feels exhausting. Intention is what gives both direction.
Your intentions are visible.
They show up in your calendar.
In how you prepare.
In how you respond to rejection.
In what you do consistently when no one is watching.
If you’ve been feeling stuck or frustrated, it may not be a lack of ability or opportunity. It may simply be a misalignment between what you say you want and what you’re being intentional about supporting.
A question worth sitting with this week:
What am I saying I want—and what am I actually choosing to be intentional about?
Clarity creates alignment.
Alignment creates progress.
Until the next loud conversation—let’s keep it real and stay intentional.
