For 35 years, Joan Tyson has been doing more than working in the legal profession. She has been making an impact.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, and proudly building her life as an American, Joan's journey is a story of determination, reinvention, leadership, and a whole lot of heart.
Today, she stands as a Senior Paralegal, bringing three and a half decades of experience to complex litigation, class actions, and mass arbitration.
But here's the thing about Joan: She never stopped at the job description.
She turned experience into leadership. She turned challenges into opportunities. She turned knowledge into mentorship. And she turned every seat at the table into an opportunity to bring someone else along.
35 YEARS. ONE MISSION: LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT.
Joan has dedicated herself to advancing the paralegal profession through her work with the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, helping conduct annual paralegal seminars designed to educate, empower, and connect professionals in the field.
Because Joan doesn't believe knowledge should be guarded. Knowledge should be shared.
Her message to the next generation is simple:
"Don't just build a career. Build a reputation. Build relationships. Build people."
And Joan has certainly built relationships. She serves as Vice President of 89 Angels, supporting and celebrating the classmates and friendships that have remained part of her journey. She also serves as Secretary and Treasurer of her homeowners association, remains active in her church, and continues to give her time wherever she can make a difference.
HER SECRET? SHE SHOWS UP.
Sixteen years of perfect attendance says something about Joan.
It says commitment.
Thirty-five years in the legal profession says perseverance.
The people who reach out to her for guidance say trust.
