Ode To My Young Scholar
A Message of Encouragement and Infinite Possibility for Every Young Learner
Young Scholar
Young Scholar,
There may be days
when the words seem too big,
the pages seem too long,
and the mountain seems too high.
Climb anyway.
One word.
One sentence.
One page.
One magnificent step at a time.
Because I have watched you.
I have watched letters become sounds,
sounds become words,
words become sentences,
and sentences become stories
created by you.
I have watched “I can’t”
slowly discover
“Let me try.”
And I have watched “Let me try”
begin becoming—
“Look what I did!”
Oh, Young Scholar,
if only you could see
what I see.
A reader growing stronger.
A writer finding her voice.
A creator with wonderful ideas.
A young girl discovering
just how much she can do.
And when you think of Mommy,
remember that her love
still travels with you—
in your courage,
in your smile,
in every dream
you dare to dream.
And all around you
are people cheering,
helping,
loving,
and reminding you:
You never walk alone.
Books are waiting
for you to read them.
Blank pages are waiting
for your imagination.
Words are waiting
for you to learn them.
Stories are waiting
for you to create them.
And dreams are waiting
for your name.
So when something feels impossible,
remember everything
you can do today
that once felt impossible, too.
That is your evidence.
You have already begun.
You are already growing.
You are already becoming.
And, Young Scholar,
this is only the beginning.
You can do all things.
You have the strength.
Read.
Write.
Create.
Dream.
Believe.
And keep taking
one magnificent step
after another.
Because your story
is still being written—
and I cannot wait
to see what you
decide to write next.
