Problem-Solving 101
The Power of the Mind
In seasons of loss, we need the strength to get back up. But where does that strength come from? It comes from what we believe about our circumstances.
Many people believe there is no hope when income and resources have dried up. Fear takes over. The future feels closed off, and the problem appears permanent.
But for those who see themselves as talented, resilient achievers, all is not lost. In fact, something powerful begins to happen. The mind starts searching for solutions. Creativity awakens. Resilience forms and strengthens them for the journey ahead.
I believe some problems actually offer us a service. They appear for a purpose:
- Identifying overcomers and untapped talent
- Creating opportunities for personal growth
- Introducing the overcomer to their hidden self
If you are in the midst of what looks impossible, I invite you to view your obstacle as a cul-de-sac. There was an entrance—something that led to this problem—and there is also an exit. Your problem is solvable.
You may have reached a dead end, but you are not trapped.
Take a deep breath. Turn around. Remind yourself that you are an overcomer. You are greater than your problem—and here is proof.
I know an unemployed, homeless woman who wanted to help the homeless community. While still homeless herself, she started and successfully ran a nonprofit for years. How did she do it? She decided that she could—and she did.
Two years later, with no earned income and still running her nonprofit, she moved into her own apartment, fully furnished. How did she do that? She decided that she could—and she did.
You have the power to overcome and recover from what appears to have you stuck. Believe in your ability to solve the problem. Decide that you can.
And you will.
