Sage & Fulfillment

Last week, I was referred to as a “person of sage” in conversation. I thought I misheard, but she repeated it. I pretended to understand, and we continued talking as though I knew what she meant.

After the call, curiosity led me to look up “person of sage.” What I found surprised me.

“A person of sage” is defined as someone who lives selflessly for the benefit of others and humanity. To aspire to be a sage means to perform good deeds, help others, and show kindness. Doing so fills your soul with purity and light.

I would never have called myself this, but learning the meaning sparked some reflection.

God created each of us with a unique, specific purpose. Our purpose is not a fixed destination but a dynamic journey that evolves as we grow and develop. It is the guiding force that gives our lives meaning and direction, and it is up to us to discover and fulfill it.

I realized that for much of my life, I have been living with a skewed sense of purpose. I approached life with tenacity, always pursuing the more challenging route and pushing myself in all areas, thinking I needed to be a “jack of all trades,” knowing and doing everything at once. Through all of this, I learned and grew, gaining knowledge and becoming grounded for what was ahead.

Each experience taught valuable lessons. I gained wisdom, developed a foundation, and was prepared for future challenges.

Over the past three years, I have noticed a significant internal shift; my purpose has become clearer. I have learned that being still is necessary to hear God.

Placing God at the center of my life gives me direction and purpose. I still pursue life tenaciously, but now I seek God’s guidance first, letting Him direct my path.

Unknowingly, I was evolving into a person of sage.

To embody sage-like qualities, show up for others—help those outside your circle. Volunteer for a charity, listen to a friend, or be present during difficult times.

Show kindness, especially to those who are marginalized or vulnerable. Your empathy can change lives.

Act justly. Follow the golden rule: “Do not do to others what you don’t want done to you.”

Embracing a life of service and care for others leads to profound fulfillment. The pursuit of purpose and selfless kindness brings meaning and light, which is the heart of my message: fulfillment.

Choose to become a person of sage; the true reward is a fulfilled life.
