It Starts With Us
I grew up in a busy household of six. Nobody was handed a silver platter. Everyone contributed. Everyone worked. Responsibility wasn't optional—it was simply part of life.
I bought my first car myself. I paid for my own college education. I worked full-time while building my future.
Because of that, I never expected life to hand me anything. And honestly, I'm grateful for that now.
Not because it was easy—it often wasn't. But because there is something deeply grounding about earning the things you have through discipline, resilience, sacrifice, and consistency.
It teaches you to value people differently, too. You stop seeing worth through status, image, or proximity to power. You start recognizing character, effort, integrity, determination, and heart.
A Culture Built Around External Validation
And somewhere along the way, I realized how much of our culture is built around external validation. From the beginning, we are taught to measure people by what they have instead of who they are.
What school did they attend? What neighborhood do they live in? What car do they drive? Who are they connected to? What title do they hold? Do they meet the invisible "requirements" before we decide they are worthy of respect?
It's a culture that quietly teaches people to rank human value. And the dangerous part is how normal it has become.
Every Single Person Is Still Human
But beneath all of it, every single person is still human.
Some people were raised with stability, support, and opportunity already surrounding them. Others spent years overcoming emotional, financial, or psychological challenges before they ever had the chance to dream bigger.
Neither path makes someone more valuable than the other. It simply means they started from different places. And that difference should create understanding—not superiority.
That Is Where Growth Begins
The moment we stop looking at people through the lens of status and start seeing them through the lens of humanity.
The moment we stop asking, "What can this person do for me?" and start asking, "How can I contribute, build, serve, and help others grow, too?"
Because shattering the glass is not just personal. It's systemic.
It means choosing not to repeat the same behaviors that made us feel unseen, underestimated, excluded, or reduced to our external value in the first place.
It means leading differently. Building differently. Treating people as people first.
Because the world does not change simply because we criticize broken systems. It changes when we refuse to become them.
