Staffing In Today's Economy | Raising the Bar in Staffing: How Thomasina Hinds Is Connecting People, Talent, and Opportunity

In every economy, there are two stories happening at the same time.

There are employers searching for the right people to help their businesses grow, innovate, and remain competitive. And there are talented individuals searching for an opportunity, sometimes simply hoping for someone to recognize their potential.

For more than 15 years, I have made it my mission to bring those two stories together.

I don't believe staffing is simply about filling an open position. It is about changing lives, strengthening businesses, creating opportunities, and helping people move forward.

That is the standard I have set for myself, and it is the standard I continue to raise.

More Than Recruiting—It's About People

My career has given me the opportunity to recruit across a wide range of industries, including IT and Technology, Finance, Engineering, Construction, Healthcare, Operations, Human Resources, and Administrative Support.

But regardless of the industry, one thing has remained consistent: people matter.

Behind every résumé is a person with a story, responsibilities, dreams, experience, challenges, and goals.

Behind every job description is an employer with a business to build, customers to serve, employees to support, and objectives to achieve.

My job is to listen to both.

That is why my recruiting philosophy has always been relationship-driven and customer-obsessed. I want my clients to know that I am not simply sending résumés. I am listening to what they need and working to identify talent that can genuinely contribute to their success.

And I want candidates to know that they are more than a résumé in a database. They deserve to be heard, understood, prepared, and connected with opportunities that can help them grow.

Customer-obsessed. Relationship-driven. Results-delivered.

That is more than a tagline to me. It is how I approach my work.

When the World Changed, I Changed With It

One of the defining moments in modern staffing was the COVID-19 pandemic.

Businesses changed overnight. Hiring processes changed. Offices closed. Interviews moved online. Millions of people suddenly found themselves navigating an uncertain employment landscape.

I knew I could not simply sit back and wait for the world to return to normal.

I had spent years building relationships with employers and candidates, and I wanted to continue doing what I knew best—connecting people with opportunity.

So, I looked at technology differently.

Instead of seeing technology as something separate from staffing, I saw it as my opportunity to expand the reach of staffing.

That vision became PostJobMatches.com.

I worked with my IT team to create a platform that could help bring employers and candidates together digitally and with automation. What started from a desire to continue serving people during an extraordinarily difficult period became something much bigger: a staffing and workforce connection tool designed to help reach the masses.

PostJobMatches became my muscle.

It gave me the ability to extend my reach beyond the traditional staffing desk and help more employers and job seekers connect.

PostJobMatches: My Muscle Behind the Mission

I often describe PostJobMatches as my "muscle" because it gives my staffing expertise greater reach.

My experience is the foundation.

My relationships are the heart.

Technology is the muscle that helps me put it all into motion. The technology I have is the algorithm that takes résumé data and job details and makes the best match based on the data.

Through PostJobMatches, employers can register, share their hiring needs, and gain access to a broader talent network. Candidates can create profiles, register their skills and experience, and put themselves in a position to be discovered for opportunities.

It is about creating another door.

And sometimes, all someone needs is the right door to open.

That is what I want PostJobMatches to represent.

Helping Employers Raise the Bar

Today's employers are competing for talent in an increasingly complex workforce.

Finding someone who can perform the job is one thing.

Finding someone who fits the organization's goals, culture, expectations, and long-term vision is another.

That is where experienced recruiting makes a difference.

I work to understand the employer beyond the job description. What are they really looking for? What problem are they trying to solve? What kind of person will thrive in that environment?

My approach combines strategic sourcing, relationship building, industry knowledge, technology, applicant tracking systems, and good old-fashioned communication.

Because while technology can help us find people faster, people still hire people.

And relationships still matter.

Helping Candidates See Their Possibilities

The other side of my work is just as important.

I have spoken with countless candidates who underestimated themselves.

  • Some have the experience but don't know how to present it.
  • Some have the education but lack confidence.
  • Some have been searching for months and simply haven't had the right connection.
  • Others are ready to make their next career move but don't know where to begin.

I believe a recruiter can be more than the person who forwards a résumé.

A recruiter can be an advocate.

A connector.

A career resource.

Sometimes, even a source of encouragement.

When I tell a candidate, "Let's get you Post Matched," I want that phrase to mean more than submitting an application.

I want it to mean:

  • Let's identify your strengths.
  • Let's understand your goals.
  • Let's find where you belong.
  • Let's connect you with opportunity.

Building Something That Serves Both Sides

My vision has never been about employers versus candidates.

It is about employers and candidates.

A successful placement should create value on both sides.

The employer gets talent that helps move the organization forward. We do this within your budget as well because we want your business to work for you.

The candidate gets an opportunity to use their skills, grow professionally, support their family, and build their future. I've been doing this from my humble beginnings in staffing.

That is what makes staffing meaningful to me.

When the right person gets the right opportunity at the right organization, everybody wins. That feels so good to me, and I love bringing that in general.

And when businesses have access to the talent they need, they can continue growing, hiring, serving their communities, and contributing to the economy.

That means staffing is not just an industry.

It is part of the economic engine.

My Definition of an Influential Woman

Being an influential woman is not simply about having a title.

It is about impact.

It is about what you build when nobody is watching.

It is about continuing when circumstances tell you to stop.

It is about taking your experience and using it to create opportunities for other people.

For me, influence means opening doors.

It means helping an employer find the person who can help transform their organization.

It means helping a candidate discover that their next opportunity may be closer than they think.

And it means continuing to evolve.

I am still learning. I am still growing. I am still embracing new recruiting technologies and new ways of connecting people.

Because raising the bar doesn't mean believing you have reached the top.

It means deciding that tomorrow, you are going to reach higher.
