Stop Telling Women to Save More Money, It's time we teach them how to build wealth: Why Financial Freedom Requires a Different Conversation.
From Budgeting to Building: How Women Can Master Wealth Creation Through Asset Ownership
As a real estate broker, investor, wealth strategist, and someone who has personally experienced both tremendous success and devastating financial loss, I’ve learned that financial freedom is not created by simply saving money. Financial freedom is created by owning assets.
That’s a conversation we need to have more often.
The Financial Advice Gap
Many women, particularly single women and single mothers, are carrying an enormous financial burden. They are managing households, careers, caregiving responsibilities, and often making financial decisions alone.
What concerns me is that too many women have been taught how to budget but have never been taught how to build wealth.
We’ve taught women how to survive.
We haven’t taught enough women how to own.
Ownership changes everything.
- When you own a home, you build equity.
- When you own investment property, you create passive income.
- When you own a business, you create leverage.
- When you own properly structured financial assets, you create protection and opportunity.
Ownership creates options. Options create freedom.
The American Dream Has Changed
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear today is that the American Dream is dead.
I disagree.
The dream is not dead.
The rules have changed.
Many people are frustrated by rising home prices, interest rates, inflation, and economic uncertainty. They look at today’s market through yesterday’s lens and conclude that success is no longer possible.
But every generation has faced challenges.
The individuals who succeed are not the ones who complain about the rules. They are the ones who learn them.
I often tell my clients:
Don’t hate the game. Learn the rules of the game so you can participate.
The opportunity still exists. The pathway simply looks different than it did twenty or thirty years ago.
The Lesson That Cost Me $5.85 Million
In 2008, I lost more than $5 million during the real estate crash.
It was one of the most painful experiences of my life.
But it was also one of the most valuable.
That experience taught me that failure is not the end of the story unless you refuse to learn from it.
I evaluated every decision, every assumption, and every strategy. Through that process, I discovered something that transformed my future: multifamily real estate and life insurance with living benefits.
That lesson changed the trajectory of my business and my wealth-building strategy.
Today, I teach others what I wish someone had taught me decades ago: evaluated experience is one of life’s greatest teachers.
Failure only becomes expensive when you refuse to learn from it.
Why Women Must Become Wealth Architects
I believe women are uniquely positioned to become extraordinary wealth builders.
Women are planners.
Women are nurturers.
Women think in terms of legacy and impact.
But too often, women wait until they feel ready before taking action.
The truth is, confidence doesn’t come before action.
Confidence comes from action.
You don’t become financially empowered by waiting.
You become financially empowered by learning, implementing, adjusting, and growing.
The women who will thrive in the next decade will not necessarily be the highest earners.
They will be the women who understand assets, leverage, cash flow, protection, and ownership.
They will become architects of their financial futures rather than tenants in someone else’s vision.
My Mission: Leave No Woman Behind
I was raised by a single mother.
I understand what it means to watch a woman carry the weight of financial responsibility.
Today, my mission is simple:
- Help women create financial freedom.
- Help women understand the rules.
- Help women build assets.
- Help women create generational wealth.
- Most importantly, help women recognize that wealth is not reserved for a select few.
Financial freedom is available to those willing to learn, take action, and believe they deserve more.
Because at the end of the day, the goal isn’t simply to make more money.
The goal is to create choices.
And when a woman has choices, she has power.
When she has power, she can transform her family.
When families transform, communities transform.
And that’s how generational wealth begins.
