The Drive to Build: How Turning Homesickness into Ambition Shaped My Journey
From a 14-year-old immigrant to a global leader in real estate and finance—a story of resilience, reinvention, and the relentless pursuit of excellence across borders.
When people look at a successful career built across international real estate, mortgage finance, insurance claims, and law, they often see the highlights: the headlines, the global stages, and features in major publications. What they rarely see is the quiet, underlying force that sparked it all-and the vision required to scale a brand across borders.
For me, that spark was simple, honest, and profoundly human: I missed my home.
Arriving Alone at 14
My journey in the United States began when I was just fourteen years old. My parents supported my dream and paid for my travel, sending me across the globe to build a future. At first, I stayed at a family friend's house before taking the step to live independently. Stepping into a brand-new culture and language at such a young age was both daunting and electrifying. I completed my final year of high school in America, determined to lay a solid foundation for everything that lay ahead.
From high school, I progressed to Broward Community College and then earned my degree in International Business and Finance from Florida Atlantic University. But the classroom was only part of my education; the real test was managing my own relentless drive.
The Hustle of Staying Occupied
Early in my journey, I made a conscious decision: I removed the word "can't" entirely from my vocabulary. To keep my mind sharp and focused, I adopted a personal motto that has guided my entire life: Work so much that you don't have to work ever again.
To keep my mind from drifting back to my hometown, I threw myself into every opportunity. At one point in my youth, I was simultaneously working two jobs, going to school, and managing a household while married. None of this was done out of necessity; it was done purely by choice. I was a hustler by design. Over time, I went through life's defining seasons-getting married, welcoming my wonderful son, navigating a divorce, and building businesses from the ground up.
Today, thirty-seven years after I first set foot in this country, that same inner compass drives me. Even now, as I pursue my Juris Doctor degree in law school, the core reason remains beautifully unchanged: keeping my mind active, my days full, and my purpose clear.
Leading in a Man's World: The Claims Industry
Throughout my executive career, one of my defining professional arenas was insurance claims and dispute resolution. In claims, I consistently stepped into executive leadership roles-a realm that was overwhelmingly a "man's world."
Navigating and commanding authority as a woman in a male-dominated environment required a sharp mind, deep knowledge of contracts and coverage, and unshakable confidence. I didn't try to fit into an existing mold; instead, I established leadership through technical expertise, decisive problem-solving, and sheer competence. Evolving into a top executive and certified umpire in that space proved that true leadership is defined by results, integrity, and command, not gender.
Substance Over Show: Real Estate & Strategic Financing
Transitioning into real estate brought a completely different set of challenges. Real estate is fiercely competitive, and today, so much of the industry is dominated by flash and self-promotion. At times, when I look at listing posts, I notice people focusing more on showcasing the agent than highlighting the property itself.
In a world where many lead with aesthetics and exposure, my approach is strictly about business and real asset value. Grounding my practice in finance and law allows me to offer clients genuine advisory depth rather than vanity marketing.
That advisory approach naturally extends into mortgage financing. For me, mortgage services aren't just an extra business line-they are an intellectual joy and a strategic tool. When working with high-net-worth cash buyers, I love showing them how to optimize their capital. Instead of tying up all their liquidity in a single property, I present strategies to leverage financing, spread their risk, and acquire multiple income-producing assets. While clients always have full freedom to choose any lender, offering complete, in-house financing solutions allows us to elevate their portfolio growth seamlessly.
Sharing the Blueprint: Global Expansion, Keynotes & Podcasts
Building a localized business was never the end goal; my vision has always been global. Today, as I expand my companies internationally across real estate, mortgage, and investment advisory, my mission is to bridge transatlantic markets and create multi-market wealth vehicles for global investors.
Parallel to corporate expansion, I have stepped onto international stages as a keynote speaker and podcast guest. Whether addressing audiences on high-stakes negotiations, cross-border real estate investment, risk management, or overcoming adversity, my goal on stage and on air is simple: deliver raw, actionable truth. I don't speak on theory-I share strategies forged in the trenches of real transactions, complex claims, and legal rigor.
That focus on substance across real estate brokerage, mortgage finance, and claims has resonated across media worldwide. Over the years, I have been honored with exclusive industry awards, recognized across corporate platforms, and featured in major global and national press outlets-including The Wall Street Journal, The Real Deal, Marquis Who's Who, CNN Türk, Türkiye'nin Patronları, Milliyet Executive, and numerous television stations and print publications.
Advice for the Next Generation of Women Leaders
If my journey has taught me anything, it is these core principles for any ambitious woman carving her path:
- Erase "Can't" from Your Vocabulary: Limitations are often self-imposed or accepted from others. Replace doubt with relentless execution and a powerful motto: work so hard now that your future is entirely on your terms.
- Think Global from Day One: Don't limit your impact or business model to your local market. Build systems, expertise, and networks that allow you to expand internationally.
- Own Your Voice & Platform: Stepping onto keynote stages and speaking on podcasts isn't about fame-it's about sharing your hard-earned knowledge to empower others and elevate industry standards.
- Let Substance Be Your Style: In noise-filled markets, don't get lost in the show. Focus on being straight to business, mastering your craft, and delivering real financial strategy.
- Never Stop Learning: Whether it's business, finance, or pursuing a law degree 37 years into a journey, continuous education is the ultimate anchor for long-term relevance and authority.
