The Journey
From Paralegal to Purpose: How Curiosity, Resilience, and Reinvention Shaped My Career and Inspired My First Book
My journey has never followed a perfectly straight line. I have worked across engineering, finance, real estate, legal operations, corporate compliance, contracts, and renewable energy. Each chapter taught me something different, but the lesson that has stayed with me the longest came from one of my first attorney mentors. He trained me to think beyond the title of paralegal and reminded me constantly that nothing is impossible. The information is out there—you simply have to be willing to find it.
That mindset changed the way I approached my career. I stopped looking at my role as a list of assigned tasks and started asking bigger questions: How can I solve this problem? How can I make this process better? How can I help the business grow? Over time, that curiosity and persistence allowed me to take on greater responsibility, work on complex transactions, support growing companies, and build expertise in areas I once knew very little about.
I have also learned that some of our greatest growth comes from the seasons that challenge us the most. Careers change. Opportunities disappear. Plans do not always work out the way we expected. But I have come to believe that reinvention is not starting over—it is starting again with experience, knowledge, and a clearer understanding of who you are.
Today, one of my greatest goals is to share what I have learned with others. Publishing my first book reminded me that our experiences are not meant to stay hidden in notebooks or filing cabinets. I often think about a piece of advice I have carried with me for years: write everything down, because one day you may use it in your book. I understand that now in a much deeper way. Every challenge, lesson, mistake, achievement, and unexpected turn can become something valuable—not only for you, but for someone who needs to hear what you learned.
If there is one message I hope other women take from my story, it is this: do not underestimate the value of your experience. You are allowed to evolve. You are allowed to change direction. You are allowed to build something new from everything you have already survived, learned, and accomplished. Keep learning, keep asking questions, and keep moving forward. Sometimes the path you never planned becomes the one that gives your work the greatest purpose.
