The Comeback: Finding Strength Through Life’s Greatest Challenges

There are moments in life when everything you have built, planned, and believed about your future changes in an instant.
For me, those moments came more than once.
Before founding my own companies and leading sales organizations, I was already fighting battles that no title or professional achievement could prepare me for. A few years before launching my business, I escaped a domestic violence relationship and began rebuilding my life from the ground up. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but it taught me an invaluable lesson:
Strength is often discovered only when you have no other choice.
With more than 30 years of experience in sales, business development, and leadership, I poured my energy into building Virtual Expert Solutions. I was passionate about helping businesses grow, creating opportunities for others, and proving that resilience can be transformed into success.
Then life challenged me again.
I was diagnosed with cancer.
When you hear the words, "You have cancer," everything changes. The priorities that once seemed important suddenly become insignificant. Survival becomes the mission.
Three months into chemotherapy, the man I was planning to marry passed away.
While fighting for my life physically, I was suddenly grieving the loss of the person I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. The emotional weight was immense. Every day became a battle between moving forward and simply trying to make it through.
But the greatest heartbreak was yet to come.
Just 18 months later, my son took his own life.
There are no words that adequately describe that kind of loss. Any parent who has experienced it understands that a piece of your heart leaves with them. For a long time, I questioned everything:
My purpose.
My future.
My ability to continue.
There were days when simply getting out of bed felt like an accomplishment.
Yet somewhere between grief, healing, and reflection, I realized something important.
The adversity I had experienced had not weakened me.
It had revealed me.
It revealed the leader I had become.
It revealed the strength I had spent decades helping others discover within themselves.
And most importantly, it revealed that my story was not over.
The Comeback
Today, I serve as Vice President of Sales for Insyghtful.ai and continue building RevEngine-IQ, helping organizations unlock revenue opportunities, strengthen sales execution, and achieve meaningful growth.
People often ask how I found the strength to return to business after everything that happened.
The truth is that work became more than a career. It became a purpose.
Helping clients solve challenges, mentoring professionals, building teams, and creating revenue growth gave me something powerful to focus on. It reminded me that even after devastating loss, we still have something valuable to contribute.
My 30 years of experience have certainly taught me sales strategy, leadership, and business development. But the greatest lessons did not come from boardrooms, client meetings, or revenue targets.
They came from adversity.
Leadership Is Not About Authority
I have learned that leadership is not about authority.
It is about compassion.
It is about being the person who listens before speaking.
It is about recognizing that every person on your team may be carrying a battle you know nothing about.
It is about creating environments where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
The best leaders are not the ones who have avoided hardship. They are the ones who have walked through it and returned with greater empathy.
My journey has taught me that resilience is not about never falling apart.
It is about finding the courage to rebuild after you do.
Today, I wake up with gratitude. Not because life has been easy, but because I have learned that even in the darkest seasons, there is still purpose ahead.

Your circumstances do not define your future.
- You can survive abuse.
- You can endure illness.
- You can navigate grief.
- You can rebuild after unimaginable loss.
- You can emerge stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever before.
The comeback is never about returning to who you were.
It is about becoming who you were always meant to be.
