THE LOVE OF FINISHING A TASK!
Discovering the Power of Persistence: Why Finishing Matters More Than Starting
THE LOVE OF FINISHING!
I really loved beginnings. Every new idea made me feel alive. I started journals, online courses, business plans, fitness challenges, and even a novel. But somewhere along the way, the excitement faded, and another idea would appear. Soon, my room was filled with unfinished notebooks and abandoned dreams.
One evening, I looked at everything I had started and realized something uncomfortable: I didn't have a problem with ideas—I had a problem with staying when the excitement disappeared.
So I chose one goal and made a promise: I will finish this, even when I no longer feel inspired.
I worked on it slowly. Some days, I made great progress; other days, I managed only a few minutes. But I kept showing up.
When I finally finished, the victory felt different from the excitement of starting. It was quieter, deeper, and more lasting. I learned that starting was exhilarating, but finishing was a skill—and skills could be practiced.
Insight: “Starting gave me excitement, but finishing taught me discipline. I stopped chasing the next idea and learned to keep showing up for the one I had already begun.”
