We Are Enough!
Finding worth beyond achievement through somatic healing and self-acceptance.
I Always Felt Like I Had to Do More to Be Enough
It's ironic because I volunteer for an organization that advertises the words, "You are enough." I thought I believed them myself.
I have been through years of therapy—more than a decade in total. I've had a few different therapists, with my last and current therapist being the most influential. My previous therapist retired; otherwise, I wouldn't have switched. I have completed countless types of therapy, each one slowly piecing me back together.
But I still felt like I needed more.
Then my new therapist introduced me to somatic healing. It takes a keen sense of self-awareness, which my previous therapy had prepared me for. It took me out of my mind and into my body.
I had been avoiding what my body was telling me without even realizing it.
So I started to listen.
After therapy sessions, I expressed my emotions. I shook. I cried. I slept. And now, I feel better than ever.
I pay attention to the energy throughout my body. I'm still on this healing journey, and I am so grateful for it.
As I heal, I no longer feel the need to do it all. I'm putting my energy into what aligns with my values. I say "no" more often. I rest without feeling guilty.
I finally feel content.
I don't need to constantly work toward my next achievement to feel like I'm enough.
After years of childhood neglect and abuse, I have learned to love myself unconditionally. I don't feel like I need to prove myself to anyone.
My worth isn't measured by my accomplishments.
I am worthy simply because I am me.
Because I exist.
Because I am a child of God.
And the same goes for you.
