When Passion Becomes a Mileston
A personal reflection on having my living room design featured in Monmouth Magazine
When I started my interior decorating business, I never imagined that one day my work would be featured in a magazine. As a retired teacher and self-taught decorator, I built my business through passion, persistence, and a love for creating beautiful homes. To now see one of my room designs featured in the April issue of Monmouth Magazine is truly an incredible and humbling accomplishment.
The featured space is a living room transformation that reflects everything I love about decorating—creating a room that feels warm, inviting, layered, and thoughtfully designed. Every detail was carefully chosen, from the furnishings and lighting to the accessories and finishing touches. Seeing those choices come together on the pages of a magazine was a surreal moment.
This feature means so much to me because it is a reminder that hard work and believing in yourself can lead to opportunities you never expected. There were many moments when I questioned myself or wondered if all the time, effort, and passion I was pouring into my business would ever pay off. Being featured in this editorial showed me that it has.
I hope my story encourages other women to keep pursuing their goals, even if the path looks different from what they imagined. It is never too late to follow your passion, try something new, and create something meaningful. Sometimes the accomplishments that mean the most are the ones you never saw coming.
