Her Story

About Alicia

I've dedicated my career to helping people build stability through homeownership. While I've been a mortgage professional for the past several years, my journey in real estate began in 2009. After working as a surgical technologist, I realized I wanted a career that allowed me to be present for my children while continuing to serve others, which led me into the real estate industry.

Over the years, I've gained experience in nearly every aspect of the home-buying process, including real estate, loan processing, underwriting, production management, and now as a Mortgage Broker with HomeSimply. That well-rounded background allows me to guide clients through even the most complex financing situations with confidence, transparency, and compassion.

One of the biggest influences on both my life and my career is my experience as a survivor of domestic violence. Rebuilding my own life taught me the value of financial independence, stability, and having someone who truly believes in you. Today, I'm passionate about helping others—especially those rebuilding after difficult circumstances—achieve homeownership and create a future they can be proud of. For me, every closing represents more than a transaction; it's an opportunity to help someone take the next step toward security, confidence, and a fresh start.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, relationships, and refusing to give up when others might.

Life has taught me that some of the most meaningful opportunities come after the hardest seasons. The challenges I've faced personally have shaped the way I lead professionally—with empathy, transparency, and a determination to always find a solution when one exists.

I've also never believed this business is about closing loans. It's about serving people. Every client has a story, a goal, and often a lot of uncertainty. I take that responsibility seriously. I believe in educating my clients, communicating openly, and being the person they can count on when questions arise or obstacles appear.

Professionally, I think my diverse background has also played a significant role in my success. Having worked in multiple areas of the real estate and mortgage industry has given me a deeper understanding of the process, allowing me to anticipate challenges and advocate for my clients from every angle.

Most importantly, I surround myself with people who challenge me to grow, continue learning, and never become complacent. Success isn't something I believe you achieve alone. It's built through strong relationships, a willingness to keep learning, and showing up every day with integrity and a genuine desire to make a difference in someone else's life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received came from my husband, a retired Army veteran. Whenever life or business gets difficult, he reminds me to get back to my battle rhythm.

To me, that means focusing on what I can control, staying disciplined, and continuing to move forward one step at a time instead of getting overwhelmed by everything happening around me. Some seasons are harder than others, but I've learned that consistency will carry you through when motivation fades.

There have been plenty of moments in both my personal life and my career where giving up would have been the easier option. Instead, I've leaned into that advice. Keep showing up. Keep serving people well. Keep doing the next right thing.

That mindset has helped me navigate challenges, continue growing professionally, and build a career I'm genuinely proud of. No matter what obstacles come my way, I remind myself to return to my battle rhythm—and never quit.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: give yourself grace, trust the process, and don't give up.

There will be days when you question yourself, deals that don't go as planned, and moments where you wonder if you're cut out for this career. Those moments don't define you—they shape you.

One of the best pieces of advice I've ever received is to get back to my battle rhythm. When things get hard, focus on what you can control. Stay disciplined. Keep learning. Keep showing up. Most importantly, keep serving people well.

Success doesn't happen overnight, and you don't have to have all the answers on day one. What matters is your willingness to learn, adapt, and continue moving forward with integrity and compassion.

Give yourself the same grace you so freely extend to others. Stay true to who you are, lead with authenticity, and never underestimate the impact you can have simply by showing up consistently. The women who make the biggest difference in this industry aren't the ones who never face challenges—they're the ones who refuse to let those challenges define their future.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in mortgage lending today isn't just interest rates—it's helping people navigate the amount of information that's available. Buyers are constantly hearing headlines, advice on social media, and opinions from well-meaning friends and family. Unfortunately, a lot of that information is incomplete or simply doesn't apply to their unique situation.

I see one of the greatest opportunities in our industry as education. When we take the time to truly listen, explain the process, and help clients understand their options, we empower them to make confident financial decisions instead of fear-based ones.

As mortgage professionals, we have the opportunity to be more than transaction coordinators. We can be trusted advisors who advocate for our clients, provide clarity during uncertain times, and build relationships that extend far beyond the closing table.

I believe the future of this industry belongs to professionals who prioritize people over transactions. Technology will continue to evolve, but empathy, communication, and genuine relationships will always be what sets great mortgage professionals apart.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my personal life and my career are integrity, grace, resilience, service, and family.

Integrity is at the heart of everything I do. I believe people deserve honesty, even when the conversation is difficult. Building trust means being transparent, communicating openly, and always doing what's in the best interest of the people I'm serving.

Grace is another value I hold close. I've learned that growth isn't always a straight path, and none of us are perfect. Whether it's extending grace to my clients, my family, or myself, I've found that compassion often creates the space for people to move forward with confidence.

Resilience has shaped who I am. Every challenge I've faced has reinforced my belief that difficult seasons don't define us—they prepare us. That perspective influences how I approach both life and business, reminding me to keep showing up, continue learning, and never lose sight of the bigger picture.

Service is the foundation of my career. I don't see my role as simply helping someone obtain a mortgage. I see it as helping individuals and families build stability, create opportunities, and invest in their future. That's a responsibility I never take lightly.

Above all, my family is my greatest motivation. They remind me every day why I work hard, why I lead with purpose, and why creating a meaningful life—both professionally and personally—matters so much. At the end of the day, success isn't measured only by accomplishments; it's measured by the lives we impact and the legacy we leave behind.
