About Amy
My journey has been anything but traditional. I started my career path working at a big law firm with my MBA and law degree, but everything changed when I got really sick and had to be in bed for a while. Someone suggested I try writing a song to pass the time, and I went into a trance for 3 hours. When I came out, there was a song on the page and my whole life had changed. I became a songwriter instead of an attorney, and I've been writing songs for 30 years now. My son Jasper Harris is a famous producer, and we write songs together, which is a gift from God. I came into the health and wellness business 16 years ago through a divine accident. I was looking for a way to create more stable additional income when I was a full-time songwriter and the economy had crashed. Someone in the songwriting business introduced me to Arbonne, and it immediately rang bells with me from a business perspective because it's personal care and nutrition products that people use every day, and my dad had gone from basically rags to riches in the personal care, daily consumables business himself. I said yes to this business, it started helping me and others with our health by avoiding toxic products, and I became a leader in the company. I've also been a film producer for 8 years and theater producer for 10 years, co-producing Heathers the Musical and the movie Soul on Fire that came out last year and did really well on Netflix. I wrote my first book 'No Degree Required' in 2021 about my journey in network marketing, and I'm finishing my second book 'Radical Restart' right now after interviewing over 70 people who've made massive career changes. Two years ago, we purchased a retreat space and Airbnb in Costa Rica. I also run a connections business as a connections concierge for people looking for everything from psychics to masseuses.

Ten minutes with Amy
01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Mindset is everything. Make sure you are actively allowing your mind to align with the highest possibilities for you. That means taking time on a regular basis for what I call sacred pause, so that could be anything from meditation to vacation to a quiet walk, whatever, to get in touch with the power you have to decide who you're gonna be and recognize any limiting beliefs that are holding you back. I do what I call erase and replace those limiting beliefs. It's all about mindset.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
In health and wellness as an independent consultant, it's self-driven, so it's up to me to make it happen. It's a blessing and has a flip side. It's up to me to communicate the value of what's going on to enough people to maintain a growing client base, and also, because it's a network marketing company, a base of people who are doing what I'm doing, who are independent consultants that I have either brought onto the team or have shown how to bring other people onto the team. So it's a question of discipline and desire. Finding the time, making the time between all the other things, because there's always so many interesting things going on.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity is incredibly important to me, along with playfulness and balance. I value fun and connection - connection is my superpower and my joy. I value positivity and the energy exchange between like-minded people. I'm always looking to elevate myself and others. I also retired from working when I turned 70 because I realized I really don't want to work anymore, but I can play all day. I'm sort of allergic to the word work at this point. I will often say I'm gonna play with that. I can put effort and focus and attention, but I find it much more effective to play than work.
